Artist Statement

Hidden Lake is a surreal collage artwork that invites viewers into a dreamlike realm where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur. Through the juxtaposition of vibrant purples and blues, this piece the convergence of contrasting elements, creating a visually captivating and thought-provoking composition. 

At the forefront of the artwork, a summer beach shore emerges, evoking memories of warmth, relaxation, and carefree moments. However, this idyllic scene is juxtaposed against the backdrop of icy cold mountains, symbolizing the duality of nature's beauty and its potential for harshness. The collision of these two contrasting landscapes serves as a metaphor for the complexities of life, where moments of tranquility can coexist with challenges and adversity. 

Dominating the sky, an abnormally large full grey moon hovers within the Earth's atmosphere, peering over the mountains on the right side of the composition. This celestial presence commands attention, emphasizing the vastness of the universe and the insignificance of human existence in comparison. The moon's immense size serves as a reminder of the power an mystery that lies beyond our immediate surroundings.

On the opposite side of the moon, two giant mushrooms emerge, towering over the landscape. These oversized fungi, along with a delicate butterfly perched atop the highest point of one mushroom, introduce an element of whimsy and enchantment to the artwork. Symbolizing growth, transformation, and the delicate balance of nature, the mushrooms and butterfly become the focal point of the piece, drawing viewers into a world where the extraordinary becomes ordinary.
