Artist Statement

In my artwork, "Butterfly Mountain," I aim to transport viewers into a whimsical and imaginative dreamscape, where the boundaries of reality and fantasy merge. Through the medium of collage, I combine elements of nature, surrealism, and vibrant colors to create a visual experience that evokes a sense of wonder and beauty.

The focal point of the artwork is an abnormally giant full moon, suspended within the earth's atmosphere. Its presence in the sky, above the clouds, creates a surreal and dreamlike atmosphere. The pink and blue hues of the sky hint at the possibility of a sunset, adding a touch of magic and enchantment to the scene.

In the bottom half of the collage, a mountain peak emerges, reaching above the clouds. This mountain serves as a symbol of strength, resilience, and the pursuit of lofty goals. Its presence suggests that there are heights to be reached and challenges to be overcome in the pursuit of our dreams.

Perched atop the mountain is an abnormally giant white mushroom, a quarter of the size of the moon. This whimsical element adds a touch of fantasy and imagination to the artwork. The mushroom symbolizes growth, transformation, and the potential for new beginnings. It serves as a reminder that even in the most unexpected places, beauty and magic can be found.

Balancing delicately on top of the mushroom is a blue butterfly, the same size as the mushroom. This butterfly represents freedom, grace, and the ability to transcend limitations. Its presence adds a sense of movement and life to the artwork, as if it is about to take flight and explore the vastness of the sky.

Through "Butterfly Mountain," I hope to inspire viewers to embrace their own imagination, to find solace in the beauty of nature, and to believe in the limitless possibilities that lie within their own minds. By merging elements of nature, surrealism, and vibrant colors, I aim to create a visual experience that sparks joy, curiosity, and a sense of connection to the magical and imaginative realms that exist within our world.
